New Login Flow in SBI UK Wholesale Internet Banking

Dear Customer, we are shortly coming up with an important upgrade on our Internet Banking service to make it safer and more convenient. We are introducing Risk-Based 2nd Factor Authentication in the Login journeys of SBI UK Wholesale internet banking portal.

After change will bring a few additional configurations to be done (one time) for setting up Risk-Based 2nd Factor Authentication on internet banking portal. All the existing users on our new internet banking portal will be presented with the following configuration setup screens as they login for the first time:

  1. Selection of Personal Assurance Image
  2. Selection of Personal Assurance Message (PAM)
  3. Selection of 3 Security Questions and entry of corresponding answers

The flow will be as follows:

  1. Login to internet banking using user ID, password, and verification text
  2. Prompt for One Time Passcode
  3. Selection of one image from a list of around 10 images
  4. Prompt for entering a word or phrase as PAM
  5. Submit
  6. Selection of 3 Security Questions from a list of around 15 Questions (5 questions each in three drop downs)
  7. Prompt for entering answers to selected questions
  8. Submit
  9. Logout

Setting PAM and corresponding image is a one setup which will be used in all subsequent logins to assure the user that the internet banking page is being served from authentic source.

Setting security questions and answers can be carried out during the first login for initial configuration. The security questions and answers can be reset using One Time Passcode if the user forgets the answers or wants to change the QnA set periodically for better security.

All subsequent logins will display PAM and image during the login and prompt for security questions and answers as a challenge is the system evaluates a risk level which needs additional authentication.
